Altered Watering Can

It seems that my craft supplies have started multiplying exponentially over the past couple of years!

So here is a little peek at my craft area. I have to constantly rearrange and try to find other storage alternatives for everything! It has definitely become my happy place though. When it's mostly neat and organized, I seem to be able to do the most crafting. I have a problem when it comes to boxes and unique storage options (I'm obsessed with them.) So when I saw this watering can from Flying Unicorn's April kit, I knew what to do with my paintbrushes!

First I coated the whole thing with a layer of gesso and created my own color using Art Advantage Acrylics in the shade of Viridian and Titanium White.

Once I achieved the color I was going for, I found some leftover paper in my stash from a project from long, long ago and adhered it to the center. I used Petaloo's Botanical collection flowers as well as some Petaloo's Mulberry flowers. I threw some texture paste on random places and made layers of colors with various mediums. This was the first project I used Golden's Regular Gel. Must say, I love it, and I will be using it all the time now!

Final product! I am very happy with how it turned out. I didn't let myself over think placement. I just went with the flow so I got to play and play until I was satisfied!

On to the next project!

Flying Unicorn March Kit

I absolutely LOVE the Flying Unicorn March Kit.

Sadly, it has taken me entirely too long to create anything with it! I am finally back at home in my element and itching to play!

So, the March Kit is probably my favorite kit so far. I thought the colors were wonderful. It didn't take me long to look at all the options and come up with several different projects I wanted to make! Since I love to make anything and everything with a canvas, the included canvas board in the Mixed Passion Add-On kit was the first item I grabbed..

This is just a small fraction of what comes in the kit. I ended up getting the Main Kit and all three of the Add-Ons and I'm so very glad I did! These are the items that I decided to incorporate into my project. I just wanted to create SOMETHING since it has been a while since I just got to play.

Well, here it is!

Since it is now nearing the end of April, I just checked my email and got my tracking number for the May Kit from Flying Unicorn. I shall have it in my hands tomorrow!

On another good note, I finally got myself a really good camera! I can now take better quality pictures and even shoot videos if I want!

Off to play with my new toys and see what else I can create!

Recipe Album

While I was at my first craft show, someone asked if I had any recipe books in the midst of my handmade albums. Sadly, at the time, I did not. I did however have a really cute album I decided to make on a whim using my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board. Making the pages out of envelopes themselves using the patterned paper from Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic album kept the album simple, yet still interactive.

I went by the store the other day browsing paper collections and stumbled across Carta Bella's Homemade with Love by Carina Gardner collection kit. It's adorable and absolutely perfect for a recipe themed mini album.

It only took me a day to construct the album, make the pages, and put it all together. I am waiting on some protective sleeve covers for the recipe cards I printed out to arrive, then the album will be completely finished!

Most of the projects I do seem to take forever and a day for me to complete (when it feels like they should have been done wayyy sooner) and I have a legitimate reason! She goes by "Makayla" or simply "Crazy Baby." So I'm off to make a Baby Boy Monthly Album! Must get what I can done before the child wakes up :)
